Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Djournee is operated by Prodwhiz Solutions Inc., Ontario, Canada L9J 0K6 ("Djournee", "we").

The person in charge of privacy at Djournee is Giselle Tavares, Founder, reachable at privacy@djournee.com.

2. What this policy covers

• www.djournee.com, our public website.
• The interest list, the form you can join to hear about Djournee.
• The Djournee app (app.djournee.com) during its invite-only beta.

Using Djournee is also covered by our Terms of Service. When you register, you accept this policy and the Terms together, with one box. The Terms don't change anything this policy says about your information.

Djournee is for people who live in Canada or the United States, whether or not they pay (including beta testers and anyone we invite to use it for free). During the beta, it isn't open to people who live in Québec yet. When you register, you choose your province, territory or state. If you live somewhere else, please don't sign up yet; we hope to come to more places later. If you visit www.djournee.com from another country, we don't collect anything about you, and we don't track where you are. If you start creating an account and then tell us you don't live in Canada or the United States, everything you entered is deleted right away: your email address, your sign-in (passkey or password) and your name. Nothing is kept, not even for 30 days, and we don't email you. If you write to us through the contact form, we keep your message as described in "If you write to us" below.

If you live in the United States, also see section 12, "For US residents", and our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy (linked at the bottom of every page of www.djournee.com).

3. What we collect, and why

If you join the interest list

• Your name and email address, to consider you for the beta and to email you when registration opens to everyone. That email includes your personal launch discount code; we keep which code is yours only until the list is deleted, which is also when the code expires.
• What your day includes, only if you choose to tell us. The form offers a few optional choices (for example work, children, pets), and a short free-text box if you pick "Something else" (up to 100 characters; please don't write health or private details). We use these answers only to decide whom to invite to the beta first, and they are deleted with the list. Skipping them never stops you joining the list.
• How you heard about Djournee, only if you choose to say (for example from a friend, or from LinkedIn). It isn't kept with your name or email: we only add one to that day's total for your answer, so it can't be linked to you.
• A record of your consent to receive these emails (when you gave it, and what you agreed to), as Canada's anti-spam law requires.
• That you confirmed you live in Canada or the United States (a yes, nothing more: we don't ask for or record your country or location).
• Where you came from, only if you arrived through a tagged link (for example, a link in one of our posts). We never use tracking pixels to find this out.

If you have an account

• Your email address, used to sign in and to contact you about your account. When you change it, your previous address gets a notice with a link to undo the change (see section 7).
• Your first name, which you give us once when you create your account. We use it to greet you and in our emails to you. You can change it in Settings; it is deleted with your account.
• Your sign-in methods. Passkeys and passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito, a sign-in service run by Amazon Web Services. Djournee never sees or stores your password. When you choose a password, we check it hasn't appeared in a known data breach using the Have I Been Pwned service: only the first 5 characters of a scrambled code made from your password are sent, never the password itself or anything that identifies you.
• Your invitation, and the version of this policy and of the Terms of Service you accepted (one box covers both), in which language, with the date, and when we told you about later changes.
• Your language (English or French) and your time zone, so Djournee speaks your language and shows every time correctly.
• Your answer to the health-information question (below), with the version of the wording you saw and the date.

What you tell Djournee

To coordinate your life, Djournee keeps a structured summary of what you share:

• Your commitments: tasks, appointments and deadlines, each with its timing, how flexible it is, what happens if it slips, and which area of your life it belongs to (family, personal, work).
• The people, pets and places you mention, so "my sister" and "Sarah" are understood as the same person.
• Your preferences and working patterns, such as when you have the most energy or how much buffer you like between things.
• Facts you choose to share that aren't tasks but matter for future planning, such as "my mom lives two hours away".
• Your answers to the optional daily check-in (whether anything is weighing on you today).
• The capacity you choose for the day (full, reduced or essentials), saved with your account so all your devices show the same plan, and deleted when your day is over. If you turn on "Keep my capacity days", we keep each day's choice for 13 months so you can see your month; turning it off deletes them right away. We never use them to guess how you are.
• Your province or state, so Djournee knows the public holidays where you live (never your exact location), and which days are days off for you and your children. The country you told us is also used to show the right crisis helpline numbers if a conversation suggests you may need support; you can say you are somewhere else, and that choice isn't saved.
• Holidays you celebrate, only if you choose them from a list in settings. Because they can reveal your religion, we treat them as sensitive and never guess them. Removing one also removes your answers about it.
• Your answers about holidays: whether you're off work that day, whether your work follows public holidays at all, and, if your employer follows another country's holidays, which country. Djournee remembers each answer for the same holiday in future years, so it doesn't ask twice.

Health-related information (appointments with health professionals, medications, your children's health appointments, your check-in answers) is kept only if you say yes when Djournee asks, once, during onboarding. You mark an item as a health appointment or a medication yourself; Djournee doesn't guess from your words. You can change your answer any time in Privacy and data. If you say no, Djournee still helps in the moment but doesn't save those details. It can still keep the time of an appointment or a reminder with no health details (for example "Appointment — Thursday 3:30"), so it can protect that time, and it tells you when it does.

About other people: you may tell Djournee about your children, family or others in your life. Please share only what helps with planning. We protect their information exactly as we protect yours, and we never contact them.

What Djournee won't do: it never decides on its own that you're having a hard time and changes your plan. It may offer a lighter day, but you decide. Djournee is not a medical or mental-health service, and it doesn't diagnose anything.

Your conversations with Djournee

Each conversation is saved separately so you can come back to it, with a short title written by an AI model from that conversation alone. You can delete any conversation from your History: it disappears right away and is permanently erased, including from backups, within about 30 days. What Djournee learned from it (your commitments, people, preferences and facts, above) stays until you delete it in Privacy and data, and the confirmation tells you so.

If you connect Google Calendar

Connecting your calendar is optional; you can use Djournee by typing instead.

• What Djournee reads: the events on the calendars you choose (their time, title and, if there is one, location), and the list of your calendars so you can choose which ones Djournee reads. During the beta, Djournee only reads your calendar; it doesn't add, change or delete events.
• Why: to find clashes between your events and the rest of your commitments, and to plan your days. Your calendar information is used only for these features, which you see in the app.
• What Djournee keeps: only the details it needs (an event's time, title and location), stored in Canada like everything else. It doesn't keep a copy of your calendar.
• Who else handles it: to find a clash, the details of the events involved may be included in a request to an AI model on Amazon Bedrock (section 5), which may be processed in the United States and isn't stored there. No one else receives it.
• What never happens: your calendar information is never sold, never used for advertising, never given to data brokers, and never used to train AI models. No one at Djournee reads it, except with your explicit permission (for example when you ask for help with a problem), for security, or when the law requires it.
• Disconnecting: you can disconnect at any time in Settings → Calendars. Djournee stops reading your calendar right away and removes the events it imported from it. You can also remove Djournee's access from your Google Account.
• Before you connect, the app shows you exactly what Djournee will read, and links to this section.

Djournee's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy (opens in a new tab), including the Limited Use requirements.

If you upload a file or screenshot

Djournee reads it once to pick out what matters, such as a date or a time, and keeps only those details. We don't keep the file, and we don't make or keep any copy of it: not on our servers, not in backups, not encrypted. While it's being read, it exists only for those few moments, and the AI service that reads it for us doesn't keep it either (section 5). Then it's deleted, whether the reading worked or not. If it fails, we try once more, then delete it and ask you to upload it again.

Beta feedback

During the beta, Djournee may ask you one optional question a week and two short check-ins (at the end of weeks 2 and 5), and you can write to us any time in "Share your thoughts". Answering is always optional. Your answers are kept with your account, included in your export and deleted with it, and we read them labelled by a tester code, not by your name. The check-ins never ask about your mood or health. If you choose to share a story about Djournee, it's published on our website only if you tick a separate box, and only after you approve the exact words and how you're named (or not named).

Security and activity information

• Sign-in history: when you signed in, from what kind of device and browser, the IP address, and an approximate location (city, region, country) worked out from that IP address, never from GPS or your device. We use it to email you when a new device signs in to your account (with a one-click "sign out everywhere" link), and to let you see and sign out your devices. The location is looked up inside Djournee: your IP address is never sent to an outside location service. (IP geolocation by DB-IP (opens in a new tab), used under its Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.)
• Your activity log: a record of what Djournee read, saved, changed, sent or used an AI model for on your behalf, and when, which you can see in the app at any time. It never holds the content of your messages or files, and it doesn't keep its own copy of your items: something you delete disappears from it too.
• Counts of what Djournee did for you, such as how many conflicts it caught and whether you acted on them. These are numbers only, never the content of your items or conversations. We use them to understand whether Djournee really helps.
• Server logs: technical records (including IP addresses) that keep Djournee secure and working. They never contain the content of what you've told Djournee.

Emails and alerts we send

• Account emails (invitations, sign-in codes, security alerts): sent because your account needs them.
• The newsletter, only if you ticked the box when you registered or joined the interest list: at most once a month, unsubscribe in one click.
• Heads-ups, only if you turn them on in Settings: a short email and/or a phone alert saying only that something needs your okay, or that a reminder you asked for is due. They never contain item titles, other people's names, health details or the content of your messages, and we send at most two a day and none between 9 pm and 7 am. Turn them off in Settings, or with one click from any heads-up email.

All emails come from Djournee itself, through Amazon Web Services in Canada, in the language you chose for the app. No newsletter or marketing company ever receives your email address, and our emails contain no tracking pixels or tracked links.

Phone alerts are delivered through your browser maker's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla), which learns only that an alert was sent to your device, never what it was about, because the alert holds nothing readable.

If you write to us

When you use the contact form on www.djournee.com, or Contact support in the app, your name, email address and message go to Djournee's own support inbox, stored in Canada on Amazon Web Services. No email or helpdesk company receives them. We keep your messages and our replies for 3 years after the conversation's last message, as a record of what was asked and answered. If you delete your Djournee account, your messages are unlinked from it and kept, without your account, until those 3 years end. An AI model on Amazon Bedrock may help draft our reply from your message; a person always reads and sends it during the beta.

How Djournee is used, counted without knowing who

To see what works, Djournee counts how its website and app are used, as daily totals that say nothing about who did what: for example how many people opened a page, finished a step of setting up, or accepted a suggestion. Each total holds only what was done, the day, website or app, the language, the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the app version. We don't store your account, an IP address, the exact time, your location or anything you wrote with it, we use no cookie for it, and no analytics company is involved: Djournee counts it itself, on Amazon Web Services in Canada. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is counted.

4. When we share information, and what we never do

We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we never share it for advertising. We share it only in these cases:

• With the service providers that run Djournee for us (section 6), under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only to provide their service to us.
• When the law requires it, for example a court order or warrant. We share only what that order covers.
• To protect someone's life, health or safety in an emergency.
• If Djournee's business is ever sold or merged, under the same protections, and we'll tell you first.

We also never:

• Show ads, or use advertising trackers, tracking pixels or third-party analytics that follow you.
• Use your content to train, fine-tune or test AI models, ours or anyone else's.
• Collect your location, mood or relationships behind your back.

If we ever want to use your information in a way this policy doesn't describe, we'll ask you first.

5. How AI is used

To answer you and plan with you, Djournee uses AI models made by Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI and Amazon (Nova), all run on Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock). When you use Ask Djournee, it uses what you've saved in Djournee (your plans, the people and pets you've told it about, and what it remembers about you) to understand and answer you. That information is processed by Amazon Bedrock, may be processed in the United States, and isn't used for training. The AI provider doesn't keep it, except as described below for OpenAI models. Everything Djournee knows about you stays in Djournee's own database; no AI company keeps a memory of you.

• Anthropic and OpenAI never receive your information: their models run on Amazon's service.
• Amazon keeps nothing from requests to Claude models. For OpenAI models, Amazon keeps a request only if its automatic safety check flags it as possible misuse, for up to 30 days, to review it. These are Amazon's own rules, not settings Djournee can change; we choose services that keep the least, and we tell you exactly what they keep.
• Requests may be processed in Canada or in the United States.
• None of these companies may use your information to train their models.

Djournee is an AI, and AI can make mistakes. Check anything important, and if something looks wrong, tap "That's not right" or just tell the assistant; it fixes it and remembers.

Djournee proposes; it doesn't decide for you. It flags conflicts and suggests what to move. During the beta it may move your own flexible items when you've allowed it, and it always tells you; anything that affects another person waits for your confirmation, and you can always ask why it suggested something. If you'd like a person to review something the assistant did, write to privacy@djournee.com.

6. Where your information is stored, and who handles it

Everything Djournee stores (the database, its backups, temporary processing and server logs) is kept with Amazon Web Services in Canada (Central region, Montréal).

Google Calendar, if you connect it, is your own account with Google, under Google's terms with you; Djournee reads from it as described in section 3 and sends it nothing of yours.

Apart from these, no other company stores, processes or sends your information for Djournee.

Information handled outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.

7. How long we keep it

8. Your choices and rights

• See everything Djournee knows about you, in plain language, in the app's privacy view.
• Correct anything: just tell the assistant. Your correction replaces the old value.
• Delete a single memory or item, a conversation, everything in one area, or your whole account, from the app, without contacting us.
• Export all your information, or just one area of your life, from the app, as one page you can read (with the same data inside it for another app). We keep the file encrypted for 30 minutes so you can download it, then delete it.
• Disconnect your calendar, and unsubscribe from any email.
• Ask us anything about your information at privacy@djournee.com. We reply within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

9. How we protect it

• Encryption in transit and at rest, everywhere.
• Sign-in with a passkey, or a password that's always followed by a code sent to your email.
• You're signed out automatically after 7 days without using Djournee.
• We email you whenever a new device signs in to your account.
• A firewall at the edge of AWS's network filters floods and attacks before they reach Djournee.
• The database itself refuses to return one person's information to another person's session.
• Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it, currently only the founder, with multi-factor authentication.

If a breach of security creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as quickly as possible, as the law requires. If you live in the United States and a breach involves your health information, we'll tell you within 60 days, and tell the US Federal Trade Commission as its rules require.

10. Cookies

• The app: one essential cookie that keeps you signed in securely. Nothing else.
• The website: no cookies for tracking or advertising.

11. Age

Djournee is for adults 18 and older. When you register, you confirm that you're 18 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete its information. Information about children is only what a parent or caregiver chooses to share.

12. For US residents

• Where your information is: stored in Canada; AI requests may be processed in the United States (section 6). Canadian and US authorities may access information in their countries under their own laws.
• Your rights: depending on your state, you have the right to access, correct, delete and export your information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising (we do neither). Most of these work right in the app. You can also write to privacy@djournee.com; we answer within 30 days. If we refuse, you can appeal by replying, and we'll answer in writing.
• Health data: see our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. We never sell health data, and we never use geofencing.
• We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

13. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we publish a new version with its date and a short summary of what changed. Every earlier version stays available on this site.

• Most changes: we tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Djournee after that date, the new version applies. You don't need to do anything.
• Changes that would use your information in a new way, share it with someone new, or change how we handle health information: these never apply to you until you say yes. We'll ask you one plain question in the app. Until you answer, your information keeps following the version you accepted.

We record which version you accepted, in which language, and when we told you about each change.
